The scope and composition of the policy and advocacy programme focuses on regional and multilateral instruments regulating bio-resources ownership, exploitation, control and fair trade. The programme promotes and emphasizes participatory rights based approaches to policy formulations and adoption of strategies that strengthen policy planning mechanisms which promote and provide for issues relating to farmers rights, community resource rights, access and benefit sharing, traditional practitioners rights, food security and sovereignty. Such a biodiversity and community based development approach values local knowledge, gender dynamics, human rights, and equity and community empowerment.
